Verified ReviewerNo free 25 dollar shipping on a 300 dollar order that was the wrong product due lack of item description details
I ordered what I thought was a Gaia Sho1 37 key synthesizer. I had seen a good price under the searches when I searched for the Gaia in the Guitar Center used selection.
They priced it at around 300 used, without updating the product description, replying to my emails, or honoring my cancellation request. They sent the Roland Boutique and charged the shipping. Nobody offered to refund my shipping in the store, just recently in a live chat. .
No I want the piece of equipment I thought was the Gaia. I've missed black Friday sales on other products, Havent received any incentive to shop at guitar center.
And barely got the shipping refund returned for the incorrect product. All with the driest least supportive staff in the music industry I ever encountered.
- Easy to return
Preferred solution: Price reduction
User's recommendation: Be careful with gear descriptions SH01 Synthesizer does not cover the product it appeared to be
I was dissatisfied with the appearance of your store, the lack of attention I received.
I use several resources
640 Kemper Commons Cir. Springdale Ohio.
When I approached the door. I noticed there was a sign post on one of the front doors, that the right door was out of order, and for people to use the left door to enter. Then, when I went back through the store to the drum section, to price an electric drum set.
There was no one in the area, or in site. Well, a few of the electric drum sets on the floor were damaged. Then I noticed the store was actually a mess. There were several in the area that looked worn out.
And then I noticed that the floor in this store looked as if it had not been vacuumed in mouths, and that's been nice about it. I had to go all the away over to the Amplifier and Mic. Section of the store, to find someone to ask questions. (I asked the lady If the store was going out of business.) to find out it was not.
I told her that there was on one in the drum section. Then I told her that the store was a mess, and it looked like no one has clean up, or vacuumed in mouths if not a year. She said that the employees come in and work in the instrument fields. And that they, (the employees kind of help each other out some time.) she didn't address the store being messes, and nasty.
Note: this store is one of the nastiest stores that I have ever been in. especially since there were only about 5 customers in the store at the time.
I have been in several other Guitar Centers in other states. And I have never seen any this nasty.
Preferred solution: Needs to be, and kept clean. Someone working in the Drum section. Items that are broken need to be taken off of the floor. (What I saw in the Electric Drum Sets. Made me choose not to get one, Because of all the broken pieces, they look cheaply made.)
User's recommendation: Don't shop in the Tri County store at 640 Kemper Commons, in Springdale Ohio

Verified ReviewerBad experience
I never understood why do we keep buying anything from Guitar Center. Their merchandise is in very low quality, and their guitars look cheap even though their prices are up in the sky.
Whatever you want to buy from Guitar Center, you can find it anywhere for way less. Moreover, the resale value of their guitars is zero, according to them.
10 months ago I bought a guitar from their Sherman Oaks store for nearly $500. I went there earlier today, I wanted to exchange the guitar for another one they have and I was willing to offer money on top. They offer to buy my guitar $75 !!!
A guitar that I bought 10 mo ago, from the same store, for $500, and wanted to sell it back in the same condition I got it, they offered $75 for it. By that they told me "Do not buy anything from Guitar Center, you won't be able to sell it later". I didn't ask for $500 and I knew to expect way less than that. But $75 ???!!!...It happened to me a few times before at their store.
Why will you buy anything from Guitar Center? No wonder they are bankrupt, we are suckers but only to a point !!!
User's recommendation: Do not EVER buy anything from Guitar Center

Verified Reviewer |Terrible Customer Service and Condition of Store
I wanted to purchase a new keyboard for my husband's birthday and he was looking for a specific model. I called and asked if the store located at 253 Park Terrace Drive, Columbia, SC had one in stock and was told yes!
Great, I thought, so I drove one and a half hours to the store with my husband so he could try it out to make sure this was the model he wanted. When we arrived the associate asked if the person I spoke to actually laid hands on the keyboard. I said sir, I have no idea, we were on the phone. Anyway, they could not find a cord to fit the Roland -RD 88.
Realizing that things like this happen, I asked how long it would take to get one if we ordered it and he was like I have no idea. It was so obvious that he could care less whether we bought it there or not. My husband was very disappointed to say the least. The other thing I think you should know is what a mess that store was.
Cords and such in piles in different places on the floor. Needless to say we went elsewhere and bought the keyboard the next day. My husband said we'd never go to Guitar Center again. He is a senior pastor, my daughter is the worship leader and my son plays drums.
We are a very musical family and they all 3 play keys, guitar and sing. So we buy lots of sound equipment as well. We have a recording studio in our home. Anyways, my point is because of the attitude and conditions of the store you lost a very good customer.
I am not looking to gain anything from this email.
I just think it's only fair to let you know how bad it was. I usually don't complain at all, I just go somewhere else, but I thought in this economy it's not fair to the owner and employees of the other stores, to not say something so that the problem can be addressed and another store doesn't have to close.
Thank you for your time and God bless, Angie Gardner

Verified Reviewer |Rude Customer Service
Earlier today, while driving home from Best Buy in Braintree MA, I decided to stop at your store. When I left the Army during Vietnam, I was a percussionist in a local Boston band, so I decided to stop and check out the percussion section.
I first asked a man working at the checkout a couple of questions, which he ignored, so I returned to browse. As I was leaving, I wanted to ask another question, and with no eye contact, I was told that he would get to me in maybe an hour and dismissed me.
On the way out, I asked who I thought might have been the manager and asked for that persons name, which I was told was Max; no last name was given.
As a senior citizen, I was insulted and offended by his attitude and had to wonder if there was something else about me that he didn't like. I will be contacting corporate and possibly post this message on Yelp and I will find another one of your stores to conduct my business

Verified Reviewer |Deceptive billing practices, no accountability or customer service
I have done business with Guitar Center and its entities for over 20 years. This most recent interaction displays an escalating pattern of poor customer service, deceptive billing practices, siloed management and a general lack of responsibility for issues they have created for themselves.
We worked with the institutional department to purchase sound equipment for a marching band. The large order was serviced through a purchase order and the local store repeatedly mishandled the transaction. They asked us to provide the purchase order number and a tax exempt id and the purchase could go through. Having provided the requirements, they told us they could not process the payment without a Net30 account which would take up to 8 weeks to setup.
They also said they could not produce an invoice for us to present to our finance secretary to approve the payment. We ended up paying with an institutional credit card, which is never a good situation for a public school as it creates accounting difficulty and extra work. Our order was split up into three deliveries and they never told us. When the first part was complete, we were notified that our order was ready, only to drive to the store and pick up a handful of items.
They use UPS delivery notifications and pay absolutely no attention to how it is communicated to their customer. We picked up the next delivery several days later only to find that a product was damaged. When we returned the item for exchange at another store, they refunded the item onto the institutional credit card and asked us to create another charge for the replacement. We had to pay for the replacement out of personal funds in order to leave.
Customer service blamed the store managers and told us we should have dealt directly with the institutional department.
Customer service relayed no ability to escalate the issue to a complaint and dropped several calls. Customer service did not reply to any calls unless directed to do so through an escalation.
- Brick and mortar stores
- Siloed company with many entities and poor customer service

Verified ReviewerTrade in policies
I own a VERY rare 29 year old Ovation guitar (I was told by a fellow at Ovation there are around 200 known left world wide in excellent condition like mine). Anyway, I don't play any longer professionally due to arthritis in my hands.
This guitar is beautiful , has a new $90 gig bag still with tags and it needs to be played so I decided to trade it for a common guitar that is about half the value with a hardshell case.
I called one of your local stores and (the young man was very polite..he did nothing toupset me) but he said that he could pnly give me half the value and could not trade even. (Basically he discouraged me from even bringing it in). I assumed yur company would gladly trade a $400 (used) guitar and $60 hardshell case for an $800 guitar (if I had the original case it goes for around $1200). YOu guys definitely have the right to run your company the way you want but good business sense is to trade roughly $550 worth of gear for an $800 guitar and new bag.
Collectors will want it. The last one I saw was in Tokyo (with a case) and went for $1150.00
Anyway, I was deeply disappointed. I have been a customer for many, many years but not any longer. I wanted a used Ej-200sce or a used Epiphone Dove Studio Pro...we all know they (in excellent condition) are REARLY worth around $400 plus a decent hardshell case...Why?
It MIGHT have cost you $450-$500?
I will no longer a customer and I do instigate things at all but I know MANY musicians (pro and amateur) some who buy from you, and rest assured, when asked by them (or anyone) I will tell them what I was told and how I was treated.
Again, not by the kid I spoke. He was judt doing his job, but your company's policy and unwillingness to even discuss it.
User's recommendation: Don't trade in your gear..you will only get half of its true value and they will NOT even consider 'even' trades.
Had a little confusion at first
