Guitar Center claims to beat any competitive price found on the Internet for identical merchandise.

I found a Furman AC Power Conditioner on Musician's Friend for $106.25. The same item was on Guitar Center's website for $189.95. I contacted them (webform on their site) to see if they would beat the price. They replied back (email) and said that their policy wouldn't apply in this case because the item was temporarily out of stock at Musician's Friend.

This was NOT outlined anywhere on their website. I feel that if there are restrictions or "strings attached" to their "offer", it should be plainly outlined on the website. To do otherwise is simply false advertising.

As such, I would advise ANYONE needing musical or pro audio gear to avoid Guitar Center at all costs; after all, who knows what other hidden strings exist once you actually purchase something.

Monetary Loss: $84.

Similar incident - low price guarantee not honored even though it's on their website. Was contacted by customer service asking me to call so they could "make things right".

Left a voice message for the rep, never heard back.

Wrote to the CEO Mike Pratt, was ignored. After that, I asked them to close my account - apparently customers making purchases that don't amount to thousands of dollars don't matter.
