I almost went ballistic at the Boardman,Ohio Guitar Center. I went in at 8:30pm prepared to spend thousands. I walk in & noone's around. I go back to the electronic drum kits ready to buy a Yamaha VTX Kit and no sales person is anywhere. Kits say "Try Me" but the amps aren't cabled and there's no headphones anywhere in sight. I figure *** it, I originally came in for a multi-track recorder. They had only one tascam 8 track, not what I wanted. Only one in stock now. I ask a few basic questions about features and the sales rep tells me he doesn't know the department. He gets another rep who states that's all they stock and that noone buys them anymore. I asked about the Boss BR-800 and the Zoom R-16 or R-24 track as advertised on the site. (I just wanted it as a scratch pad.) He tells me the Boss are discontinued and that everything is going to DAW & computer software. In a response from Roland they said it is not discontinued as of yet.The Micro is in one country, I believe but that's it. The Guitar Center Rep did say he could order the Zooms. (Yay!!! So much for instant gratification. I run Pro Tools & Logic Pro and just wanted some stand alone junk so I could get away from the *** computer.Plus my wife wants to multi-track but doesn't run software. I have older multi-tracks that have issues. So I ask about the Roland JD-Xi. The response I get is "that's just a synthesizer." I know what it does and it's a tack more than a just a synth. Mind you I happen to have several thousands of dollars to blow there today and I even tell the first two knuckheads this.Sure maybe I don't look like I have money. By now it's about twenty minutes to nine & these guys are ready to go home - not make a sale. I say listen, what is your top shelf drum machine - cost not being an issue. He says they don't have anything but can order. Mind you I'm surrounded by lower priced ($129 - 149) drum machines, midi keyboards. No suggestive sales, no check this out, nothing. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. I go to retrieve my wife who spent at least 15 minutes in drum area with no human contact. In a moment of impulse I ask a third associate about the Yamaha VTX upgraded pads because this kit I was willing to buy for well over a grand only had the upgraded pad on the snare. I ask if they have at least two more pads because the hard plastic drum heads have *** response. No they don't have them in stock & guess what? You got it!!!! They can order them. They have a whole wall of acoustic drum heads & cymbals up the wahzoo but no electronic drum heads. On the way out the third wise *** couldn't understand why I was agitated and said, "Did you call before you came down?" There's more but I'll leave it there. I will say this to Guitar Center as a musician who has been playing for 30 years. Your Boardman,Ohio store needs shut down. Why?

#1) If everything is going to Computer than we really don't need your "Brick & Morter" shop because we download all our software

needs direct.

#2) Get rid of your rude & unknowledgeable staff. The customer's needs means nothing. They could've had me wrapped up by nine o'clock - closing time. Rep #3 almost got his *** kicked all over that shop.

#3) You can't even see the building from Rt 224 and it's behind a Five Guys Burger joint. Thank God for GPS. The parking lot asphalt is broken up and split. It's been this way for quite a few years. It looks like you don't give a ***.

What happened to I want to go buy something physically? Maybe try it out first. I know how the return policy works there.

Your workers suck and are pure lazy. Not working in your interest. Working in a music is a gift as far as I'm concerned. If the good old days are gone then I'll just invest in older high quality analog gear and use my DAW as needed. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT GC. Shame on that store. If I worked there I would've stayed till the customer was set. If someone asked about our "Top End" electronic drums, I'd say, "This area over here has our more costly keyboards / synths. Let's plug in quick here and blow your mind." That's just me. I will never go back there for anything nor will I recommend GC unless I hate someone that much.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Preferred solution: You lost a single sale where I would've spent an easy $4000-6000 but you have nothing in stock. Close that store - you can't be making any money there. .

Guitar Center Pros: Leaving the store, That noone got hurt.

Guitar Center Cons: Customer service, Lack of products, Rudeness and carelessness.

Location: Youngstown, Ohio

Guitar Center Boardman, Ohio is the lamest store ever. The customer service is horrible and the staff is clueless.

It should be shut down.

They purposely ignore customers. Iโ€™ll go to Motterโ€™s Music instead from now on.
